NZSki is the owner and operator of three distinctively different South Island ski areas; Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables. Collectively they offer a complete New Zealand snow experience and have a reputation as being among some of New Zealand’s best visitor attractions.

We value media interest in our three mountains to help us share and inspire people to visit our ski areas. Below you will find a range of information, trail maps, videos and images to assist you with the promotion of Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables.

We also operate a media famil program directly with press and influencers as well as through Christchurch NZ and Tourism New Zealand.

If you would like to experience our product to produce content, or your organisation has a particular news story to cover and lift pass access is required, we invite you to please contact us directly, a minimum of three working days prior to your intended visit/filming/photo shoot to arrange lift pass access.

About NZSki LTD

Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt are collectively owned by NZSki Limited, a tourism organisation comprising of several experienced New Zealand tourism operators.

The directors of NZSki Ltd are:

The company purchased the ski areas from previous owner Air New Zealand in June 2002. At the time of the purchase, Coronet Peak manager and Managing Director of NZSki Ltd Duncan Smith said the company partners shared a common belief in the outstanding potential of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt and in the New Zealand tourism industry.

Belief holds true today and the entirely locally owned company continues to demonstrate its commitment to timely development that delivers long term benefits to customers, industry partners and the resort communities of Queenstown and Methven.

Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are located near Queenstown, New Zealand’s premier four season alpine resort destination. Mt Hutt at Methven is located near Christchurch and is the leading ski area in the Canterbury region.

  • Anticipated Closing Date: Sunday 13 Oct 2019 (Subject to weather conditions)
  • Elevation: 2086m, 683m vertical drop
  • Skiable Area: 313 hectares Lifts: 1 six-seater detachable chair, 1 quad chair, 1 triple chair, 2 learner conveyors
  • Groomed Terrain: 11% beginner,  37% intermediate, 27% advanced intermediate, 20% advanced, 5% park
  • Average Snowfall: 4m per annum (excl. snowmaking)
  • Snowmaking: 27 hectares
  • First Tracks: 8am to 9am Saturdays and Sundays only from 30th June
  • Access: 26km, 35 minutes drive from Methven
  • Shuttles: Daily services to/from Methven and Christchurch. Chain hire and fitting service available on the access road when required for most 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles
  • Operating Hours: 10am to 5pm from 30th Sept.

  • Average snowfall: 1.99 metres per annum (excl. snowmaking)
  • Snowmaking: 211 snow guns. Extensive coverage top to bottom
  • Terrain: 32% beginner, 41% intermediate, 27% advanced
  • Access: 16km sealed road, 20 minutes drive from downtown Queenstown
  • Transport: Daily bus services from the Snow Centre every 20 minutes from 8am to 12pm with pick up en-route. Hotel pick-up service available
  • Operating Hours: 9am to 4pm
  • Night Skiing: Wed, Fri & Sat 4pm-9pm June - Sept
  • First Tracks: 8-9am, 2nd July until late Sept
  • Tubing: 10am to 4pm

  • Average Snowfall: 3.67m per annum (excl. snowmaking)
  • Snowmaking: Extensive automated system comprising 100 guns covering beginners’ area, Alta Green, Casterway, Gotham City, Curvey, Turquoise, Waterfall, and terrain parks
  • Access: 28km, 40 minutes drive from downtown Queenstown (sealed access road)
  • Shuttles: Daily bus services from the Snow Centre every 20 minutes from 8am to 12pm with pick up en-route. Hotel pick-up service available
  • Operating Hours: 9am to 4pm
