Snow Report Last Updated: Thu 10 Jul 09:06 AM

Cloudy. Northwesterlies

Open!

At 8:00am we’ve got clear skies and unlimited views across Canterbury. Winds are currently gusting around 98km/h over the summit. The forecast predicts these winds will ease as the day goes on, and we’re aiming to have all lifts running by mid/late morning. This, of course, depends on conditions improving enough to allow for safe operations. Our lift teams will be working hard to get things moving, but please be prepared for possible lift holds on the Summit and Triple Chairs today.

It’s been an eventful night for our grooming crew with those strong winds, but they’re now out re-grooming the lower mountain. The best riding today will be found on the main trails. Expect firm patches to appear as the day progresses. A friendly reminder to pack your helmet and be mindful of your speed and respect your fellow riders out there.

Now, the fun stuff!

"I'm going to shine like a moon, keep your boots on, do not fear."
We're stoked to welcome you for our first Moon Ski tonight! Lifts will re-open at 6:45pm for two hours of skiing under the stars. Grab your Moon Ski pass at Guest Services or online: https://www.mthutt.co.nz/events/july/moon-ski-1/

Not skiing tonight? No worries, come up and dine under the moon and stars at ÅŒpuke Kai. The fire will be roaring and hot chocolates will be flowing.

We can’t wait to see you soon!

Do You Know The Snow Code?

Limit your speed in busy areas. Match your speed to surrounding skiers and riders and be prepared for others to make sudden changes in direction or speed.

Stay 5m from others. If less than 5m from others you must slow down. The faster you go the more space you must give others.

Give way to those downhill. Look before you leap. Snowboarders: take care turning onto your heel edge.

Only stop where you can be seen from above. Always look uphill before moving again. Only stop on the edge of trails or beside fixed objects.

Backcountry

Please refer to our Ski Touring page and the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council's Backcountry page to read about how to stay safe when touring.

Terrain Closures

Any terrain closures will be indicated on the day on signage around the ski area. Please be respectful of all closures as these are in place for your safety. If you are not sure please ask one of our Ski Patrollers who are stationed around the unload areas of our lifts. Our lifts access certain terrain that suits different ability levels - to be sure you have the right lift pass to access the type of lift and terrain for your skiing/riding ability, please ask our Guest Services staff if you need assistance. When riding a lift always ensure the safety bar is lowered on your chair. If you are unsure about the lift, just ask the nearest Lift Operator to slow it down for you. All lifts operate between 9am-4pm daily, weather & snow conditions permitting.
