YOUR MOUNTAIN

EST. 1973

Jutting out of the Canterbury Plains, at 2086m above sea level, you’ll find bolstering wide-open terrain, monster snowfalls and leg-burning runs to challenge any enthusiast. This is Mt Hutt/Ōpuke – Canterbury’s local mountain.

Community

Runs Deep

It's been over 50 years since pioneering community groups like the Methven Lions had an ambitious plan to create a road up to a prospective basin. That can-do kiwi attitude remains at the forefront of what we do here at Mt Hutt.

These days, that same spirit fuels everything from crisp early laps on fresh cord to dialling in your tricks at one of our Parks. Or if taking it slow’s more your thing, soak up those next-level views from the Alpine Spa.

moving forward

innovation and progress

Recent investment in snowmaking and new lifts ensures long seasons and comfortable rides. Hutt’s eight-seater highspeed chairlift is a New Zealand first, with a speedy 2 minute ride from bottom to top.

With a new base building in the works, we’re consistently putting back into the mountain to make it a better experience for everyone.

At the end of the day, head down the mountain to Methven - a charming town where tractors roll down the main street, hot tubs await and locals flock to The Blue Pub for après – kiwi style.

It’s no wonder Mt Hutt was voted NZ’s best ski area for 10 years in a row from 2014 - 2024. Come and check it out for yourself!
