Why do we do it? Why do we get up before the sun rises, hunt for the missing glove, gather your mates that aren't ready to be woken... You'll see.
Start your day with untouched corduroy, watch the sunrise as you and your mates lap the Summit Six.
First Tracks is on Saturdays and Sundays from 8-9am. First tracks passes are available with any valid day or season pass purchased from Guest Services. First Tracks operation is subject to conditions, please check our weather page for daily updates.
Sightseeing & Snow play
You don't need skis to enjoy Mt Hutt. Take a sightseeing trip on the Summit Six Chairlift for stunning views over the Canterbury Plains.
Looking for a little more fun on the snow, we’ve got you covered too with Yooner and Toboggan hire available.
Car parking and transport
We have free car parking right outside our base facilities at the bottom of the lifts. When the top car park is full, our friendly team will direct you into one of our overflow car parks, which are serviced regularly by a free ski shuttle service.
To find out about daily updates on the road conditions and car park availability, check out the Snow Report on our website or the Mt Hutt radio station (94.10FM).
Don’t want to worry about a full car park or the road conditions? The daily Mt Hutt bus service provided by Methven Travel departs from most major accommodation providers in Methven with a pick-up scheduled service to and from Mt Hutt Ski Area. Alternatively, Snowman Shuttles provide daily transport services between Christchurch and Methven if you’re coming from further afield.
Soak up the views from the highest altitude spa in New Zealand! Perched on the top of Hutt, and accessible from the Summit Six Chairlift, Alpine Spas have kitted us out with a spa pool that has all the bells and whistles. Sit back, let the beats drop and soak it up.
Better yet, snap a photo while you're in there and you could win your very own spa! For more details, visit the Alpine Spa website.
