Snow Report Last Updated: Thu 18 Sep 16:03 PM

Snow. Westerlies.

It is now 4pm and Mt Hutt is closed for the day.

Today brought wild and windy conditions, making it a challenging one on the mountain. A big thank you to our team for their efforts and flexibility throughout the day, and to our guests who joined us despite the weather – we truly appreciate your support.

The good news is tomorrow is looking great, with calmer conditions on the way. We’re looking forward to a much more enjoyable day on the slopes.

We will check the conditions in the morning and update the report by 6.30am.

Drive safe, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Road conditions

Chains need to be carried. Keep left to maintain 2-way access and observe the 40km/h speed limit. If you have a line of cars forming behind you, please pull over to allow faster vehicles to pass safely.

What's happening today

The Alpine Sports Adventure crew will be set up on the hill tomorrow – come scope the newest skis, boards, and gear, and maybe even take a demo for a spin.

Do You Know The Snow Code?

Limit your speed in busy areas. Match your speed to surrounding skiers and riders and be prepared for others to make sudden changes in direction or speed.

Stay 5m from others. If less than 5m from others you must slow down. The faster you go the more space you must give others.

Give way to those downhill. Look before you leap. Snowboarders: take care turning onto your heel edge.

Only stop where you can be seen from above. Always look uphill before moving again. Only stop on the edge of trails or beside fixed objects.

Backcountry

Please refer to our Ski Touring page and the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council's Backcountry page to read about how to stay safe when touring.

Terrain Closures

Any terrain closures will be indicated on the day on signage around the ski area. Please be respectful of all closures as these are in place for your safety. If you are not sure please ask one of our Ski Patrollers who are stationed around the unload areas of our lifts. Our lifts access certain terrain that suits different ability levels - to be sure you have the right lift pass to access the type of lift and terrain for your skiing/riding ability, please ask our Guest Services staff if you need assistance. When riding a lift always ensure the safety bar is lowered on your chair. If you are unsure about the lift, just ask the nearest Lift Operator to slow it down for you. All lifts operate between 9am-4pm daily, weather & snow conditions permitting.
